THE ARRACHT WAY OF SONGWRITING

“A song is a thought, wrapped in a feeling, conveyed through sound.” Arracht

Based in Andalusia in Spain, Arracht is a duo of Irishmen who craft songs together from the ideas that move them, from the influences that formed them. Rock music in all its forms is at the core of their work but they embrace also the celtic sounds of their homeland, the flamenco spirit of southern Spain, the richness of European classical music, adding any sound or rhythm that completes the songs they write and arrange.

“Independence is the essence of freedom - we collaborate freely with other artists to add colours and emotions where we imagine them but fundamentally, the Arracht way is to take a tune for a walk and see where it takes us.”
The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters by Francisco Goya

“Arracht” is the Irish word for monster. Many of our songs are inspired directly or indirectly by great artists but few more so than the Spanish painter Francisco Goya. His greatness was in his ability to present a thought, wrapped in a feeling, conveyed in an image. His work, The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters, evokes a fear that remains with us today. We cannot let our worst imaginings lead our feelings – we must confront them through reason and with respect for argument and evidence.
